Alright for those of you have been in active in channel lately, there is a
new bot named "FurRadio-Bot", this bot is going to automatically implicate a
few rules I want on the bans, invites, and exception, in the channel.
First of all feel free to set bans whenever you fell necessary: but, keep in
mind, always warn them before you kickban, if you warn them IN CHANNEL, and
they still continue on with their nonsense, go ahead and kickban them. Keep
note all bans expire 120 minutes in the channel. (The new bot will
automatically unban them after exactly 120 minutes). If you see repeat
offenses and users that still come back and cause problems repeatedly after
their ban is expired, send an email to the mailing list here with subject
(ATTN: KojakWolf PermBan: [hostmask of troll here]) And then in the email
explain why you think this person should be permanently banned, along with
logs pasted to prove it (If you don't have logs, don't worry as I already
log the channel fully).
I understand this is a long and annoying process, but I am actually doing
that on purpose to avoid users trying to ban for personal reasons. (KEEP IN
MIND IF YOU ARE REQUESTING FOR A PERMANENT BAN FOR SOMETHING THE TROLL DID
TO YOU IN PM OR IN ANOTHER CHANNEL OTHER THAN #RADIOFURS , IT WILL BE
REJECTED] If the person is causing problems out of channel, leave them be.
There is no reason for a ban on someone if they did absolutely nothing in
channel.
Also, these rules are for every op on the channel, including myself. If I
ban anyone permanently I will do the same exact thing (send mail to the
list, paste logs, etc..). Just cause im the channel owner doesn't mean I'm
going to call myself god and think I can do whatever I want. I want the
channel to have a nice clean furriendly atmosphere.
Now for the Ban Exceptions and Invites.
The ban exceptions for those of you who aren't quite clear on what it is, is
for if you set a ban on an entire host, you can set some users into the
exception list. Which means if someone set a ban on *!*@cpe.cableone.net ,
and you set a ban exception to *!kojak@*.cpe.cableone.net, that user will
still be able to get on channel. The ban exceptions are really unnecessary
for anything in the channel anyways. So they probably will never get used.
Also: All ban exception expire after 60 minutes.
The invites are really helpful if someone sets +R in channel and services
are down, this means that you can invite someone into the channel although
+R is set. Note these also expire after 60 minutes.
Now speaking of +R (Registered Nicks Only), I really would ask that this
mode is NEVER set in channel, and I never want to see it activated during
channel splits. If you see another op set +R, go ahead and unset it
immediately. This will just create an annoyance for users who try to get in
the channel ( and when services are down, they wont be able to ID their
nicks, so it isn't there fault anyways).
I'm not trying to make myself sound angry or anything, you guys are all
doing a fine job. But this is our official #radiofurs Channel Admin Policy.
So be sure to follow it. But if you have any objections to it, don't be
afraid to talk to me about it, I'm very reasonable and a very nice wuffie. I
would never yell at you in pm or anything like that anyways.
So overall you guys have been doing a great job, and I'm really happy to see
it, you guys all seem very nice and friendly to everyone in channel. I don't
plan on seeing any trolls for a while anyways.
Also im happy to say we reached a new user record the other night, which is
now set at 17 users. If I can hit 20 users by Midwest FurFest, ill be really
happy.
So everyone have a great day, and stay happy J
