The 2.4 kernel doesn't worry me at all, but the length of the traceroutes
does. Not one is under 10 hops, even otter which is supposedly in the
same city. The only one of our current servers that distant from all
the others is squirrel.

Incidentally I should be putting fox.floof.org, my "new" Cobalt RaQ3,
into the rack at Telehouse today alongside the ancient creaky machine
running husky. I found a couple of 256MB sticks in an old case in the
garage yesterday, so it can go in with maxed-out RAM from day one :)
It's also got gobs of disk (1x320GB SATA right now, with a second to
mirror it as soon as I've got the tray for it) so it may end up running a
fursuit.timduru.org mirror sometime. ;> Although the first thing I'll be
running on it is asterisk, hopefully I'll be moving the ircd to it within
the next couple of weeks (only after the second disk is in and the box
is stable, of course) as the old box is due to get decommissioned ASAP
so the boss/client guy can reclaim the case for a Notes/Domino (*spit!*)
server. I'm not sure whether to name the new ircd fox.anthrochat.net,
so I'll finally have an ircd named the same as the machine it's on again,
or malamute.floof.org so that I'm not "taking" the name of someone else's
ircd. ;)
