Heh! Well good to know that random venting in a relatively small channel can ruffle so many feathers. I'm also happy to see you're greping channel logs in what seems like looking for trouble. Its a free speech network but god forbid anyone speak badly about how the servers are run!
Now to be fair, I didn't come to you guys with this, and that was indeed wrong and I apologize. I do owe you all an explanation for my comments.
Lion has been more stable of late, and I mentioned that, but for a while it was having a lot of perceived problems. I think Pippin had it right that because its the hub AND hosts services, any even minor outage is much more visible with it. This no longer seems to be a technical issue, but an "image" issue. Folks just need to see it stable for a few months to subconsciously forget about previous issues.
Also to be fair, Glider did go down for a solid week while we moved datacenters/rebuilt the server >.>
The most recent server with trouble has been Snowleopard, and I guess I got subconsciously fed up with it about the time Pippin stopped monitoring it on Nagios. From what I see its been moved to a new datacenter, and for the last few days does seem to be more stable. So once again, the problem I was mentioning appears to be solved.
Now as far as the trolls comment goes. Thats really directed at Harik mostly. I don't think ill of any of the other names you mentioned. The only two people I knew for sure had root were Harik and Simba. Simba, I don't really see you as a troll per say. Harik is a troll. This isn't meant as an insult but a statement of fact. He thrives on arguing and mockery. And I'm not sure I'd really want him to change. Sometimes its good to have someone around who's good at that ;>
So I don't want anyone to take offense. I don't desire the network to crash. I'm not gonna show up a week later running a server for Furnet. In fact, if my little venting session has spurred action again, all the better, even if its not exactly the best way to do that.
As for why I'm leaving? I have other projects I want to work on, and I'm finding myself just not caring to run an IRCD any more. It works out well with me transferring power to Solei, who's on the same physical machine, and if you're not enjoying something any more, its time to move on.
You guys'll do fine without my ranting =P and I wish you all the best.
