Hi Stephen,

To register your nickname, simply type /msg nickserv register <PASSWORD> 
<EMAIL>
(Where <PASSWORD> is a password of your choosing, and <EMAIL> is your 
email address).

Once your nickname is registered, you will need to authenticate every 
time you log in and use that nickname.  You do this by typing
/msg nickserv identify <PASSWORD>
