Hi xcXEON,

As a result of the way the internet and the IRC protocol work, there is no way to prevent a single user from accessing your channel if they have the ability to change their IP address.  For some users, this is as easy as restarting their modem.  The only solution in this case is to, as you have previously mentioned, ban their region. 

Your problem user- does he frequently use the same nick?  What about his username?   You could set up a ban such as the following:
will!*@*
*!WILL.*@*
This will likely not affect anyone but him- but is just as easy to bypass as anything else.

Because of the way the world (or at least most of it) provides addressing to the internet, everyone is, or has the option to be completely anonymous- and you can't hold anything to a nameless, faceless entity.  In the US, most accept this as a variant of free speech- which is well known to have very similar disadvantages.

In other words, any way you look at it, you really can't stop him from getting into your channel if he really wants to be there.


Additionally, the Anthrochat IRCop policy states clearly that we are not to use our abilities to interfere with inter channel issues unless the perpetrator is directly affecting our network infrastructure.  Even if there were something we could do to assist you, it would be stepping outside of our policy to do so.

  I sent a message about this a few weeks ago, and it's still happening. A user who goes by "Will" "Bill" or a plethora of other names, continues to re-join the #furspace channel, unless I ban his entire host, like so.

  I was wondering if there was anything you guys could do about this, since banning the entire host keeps other people out as well, but if I don't do that, he just continues coming back and antagonizing people in the channel. Thanks.
