I like the generous amounts of advance warning they gave.
I've just updated bear and husky, but husky's still
not in the main irc.anthrochat.net rotation (please
could it be added?), and bear still rejects connections
from mibbit. This is presumably because of the bug noted on
http://wiki.mibbit.com/index.php/Enable_Mibbit_on_Your_IRC_Server#Unrealircd
which I can only assume means that the IPv6-enabled servers lion and bear
(and husky, although it's not in the main rotary) have been rejecting
Mibbit connections for quite some time.
I'm not sure I want to spend the time compiling new ircds and to restart
the servers just to patch this one bug which affects only Mibbit.
Not sure if I want to run 3.2.8-rc1 in production. Any idea when
unrealircd 3.2.8 is likely to be finalised? And looking at Mibbit's
"patch available here" link, it's not obvious which patch might actually
be the best to apply (the one linked-to in the last change is only a
syntax cleanup patch AFAICS.
Is it worth still supporting Mibbit, or would it be better just to ask
them to remove any anthrochat specific configuration so that they won't
try to use special CGI:IRC passwords and thus get rejected?
Would it be worth suggesting to Mibbit that they adjust their code to
retry connections without using passwords if they see the "CGI:IRC --
No access" message?
